Bananas are one of the most radioactive foods. The element that makes bananas official radioactive is an isotope of potassium. Potassium consists of three isotopes: K-39 (93.3%), K-41 (6.7%) and radioactive K-40 (0.01%). Every naturally occurring potassium has the same three varieties in the same percentage. There is really no danger from the radiation coming from the K-40, as it makes up a very low percentage of total potassium. Actually, one should consume about 10 million bananas at once, to die from radiation poisoning!
