Here is our last antioxidants series, which are the polyphenols. Polyphenols are a variety of compounds with phenolic structural features, which can be classified in many classes. They are the most abundant antioxidants in our diets. Polyphenols occur naturally and are found mostly in fruits, vegetables, cereals, legumes, chocolate, some beverages and spices.
Theaflavin in black tea, hesperidin in lime, ellagic acid in strawberry and epicatechin in dark chocolate are examples of numerous polyphenols we intake daily. Although having a healthy diet helps the immune system protect the body against diseases, it is important to note that the guidelines of WHO for COVID-19 should be seriously followed. Stay safe!
